Luckily, there are several ways to make water drinkable. Whether you find yourself without running water in your home or searching for water while out in the wilderness, you can be sure that one of these techniques will do the trick!

Make Water Drinkable: Simple Ways To Purify Water

1. DIY Water Purification Process

Use a pant leg or cone-shaped object and fill it with charcoal from your fire and two alternating layers of clean sand and small rocks.

2. Boil

• Boil water for 5 minutes to be sure all bacteria are dead.
• Boiling will not remove mineral, solids, or metals in the water.

3. Distill

This is effective at removing water from bacteria, metals, minerals, and other solids.

• Water vapor rises through the hose.
• The vapor condenses as it cools.
• Condensed water collects in the bottles.

4. Tablets or Drops

Iodine tablets or chlorine drops are effective at killing bacteria in the water but may result in undesirable taste.

Ultraviolet pens kill any bacteria in the water. Simply insert the bulb into the water, agitate for the specified amount of time and your water is safe to drink.

6. Filter

• Filters for camping comes in all shapes and sizes.
• Most are small enough for backcountry use.
• These filters usually use a ceramic and carbon-based system to clean and purify your water.

Why Learn to Purify Water?

Untreated water can cause major problems, especially in the back-country. Among the dangerous bacteria present in untreated water are the following:

Cryptosporidium

• Found in animal manure and seasonal run-off
• Symptoms include flu-like, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and nausea

Giardia

• Found in groundwater and pipe breaks
• Found where wildlife and humans use the same water source
• Symptoms include diarrhea and abdominal discomfort

Botulism

• Found in contaminated water and food
• Symptoms include dry mouth, blurred vision, muscle weakness, and trouble breathing

Most University of Minnesota professors are lining up with the new policy crackdown against politically incorrect pronouns.

Policymakers at the University of Minnesota want to create a new policy that will force everyone to use politically correct pronouns. Furthermore, they will severely punish those who do not. This policy will apply to students, professors, and even drifters walking through the campus. Even though it’s completely contradictory to free speech rights, it will carry enough weight to expel non-conforming students. The school will call this proposed policy “Equity and Access: Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Names and Pronouns.” It will make sure that every student uses only the accepted pronouns, gender identities, and names. Consequently, anything that the institution considers to be in the realm of politically incorrect pronouns it will ban from the campus.

A “Delusional” Inclusion? No More Politically Incorrect Pronouns

We’re not quite sure what inspired this policy. According to university representatives, the plan is meant to encourage a non-discriminating, understanding, and accepting spirit among students. Apparently, it will make life better for gender non-conforming and transgender individuals who are a part of the institution.

Interestingly enough, these “seemingly” good intentions don’t seem to coincide with the discrimination inherent within the policy. The legislation states that those who use politically incorrect pronouns will either be fired or expelled. It’s not yet clear whether Muslims will be exempt from this policy or not. But by the way things are going, only time will tell.

There’s another interesting fact to note here as well. University officials responsible for the policy apparently forgot to include other categories of individuals who suffer from identity delusions. For example, the new policy doesn’t mention anorexics, bulimics, and sufferers of body integrity dysphoria. Not only that, but the plan also has mysteriously left out individuals who are confused about their race or species.

What This Means For Nonconforming Students And Professors

The assistant director of the university’s Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Office is Gabrielle Mead. She expressed that the intention behind the policy is to create a more inclusive community. In this new community, each of the members will feel accepted for who they are. Apparently, under this new policy, men who fall under the “transgender” category can use women’s bathrooms and locker rooms. They will also have the right to participate in any event that they wish. The university’s website has already adopted the new policy. It features options for male, female, nonbinary, genderqueer, gender nonconforming, two-spirit or just “nothing.” The pronoun options that the institution uses to cater to all this madness include the usual “he” and “she,” as well as “they,” “prefer not to specify,” and “none.”

The Violence Of Whiteness

The movement to do away with politically incorrect pronouns has taken the university community by storm. Even many of those considered as devoted conservatives like the Students for Conservative Voice have come out in support of the policy. In fact, a representative of this organization even went as far as to call those who refuse to support the delusions of the confused “insensitive.”

None of this comes as a surprise when you consider that earlier this year UMN hosted a speaker whose primary focus was on “Violence of Whiteness.” The title alone says a lot about shameless racism. The speaker went so far as to call “whiteness” a fundamental threat to the economic, political, and social harmony of the country. This institution is needlessly wasting taxpayers’ dollars on pointless drivel while simultaneously poisoning the minds of impressionable youth.

Now, researchers have discovered cesium-137 in several Californian wines, leading many to ask: is California wine radioactive?

California Wine Radioactive?

Those who remember the Fukushima incident know that this disaster left nothing but tragedy in its wake. Since then, the inhabitants of the area have had to face more than a few difficulties. This ranges from radioactive wildlife to extremely toxic water and air. But the “difficulties” weren’t confined to Japan. In fact, radioactive particles have made it to the Western United States as many Off The Grid News readers are already aware.

The World Health Organization shrugged it off as a nothing to worry about. However, it’s still not clear what we should be worrying about. Now, researchers have discovered cesium-137 in several Californian wines, leading many to ask: is California wine radioactive? And then, should I cut back to a bottle a day?

Testing The Wine

NCSR performed a few tests on about 20 bottles of California-produced cabernet sauvignon rose from 2009. They found that the wine had an alarming active radiation level. Cabernets had the highest level of contamination. The same team of researchers performed identical tests in different countries around the world. They used the available data to compare the radioactive level in the wine with the grape’s harvesting date. The scientists claim that wines produced around the same time as the occurrence of major nuclear events tend to have a high level of cesium-137. Moreover, cesium-137 is a man-made element.

Concerns Over Cesium-137 Effects: Is California Wine Radioactive?

Although cesium-137 could increase one’s cancer risk, the NCSR considers the level in Californian wines to be “harmless.” In fact, the radioactive levels were so low that NCSR researchers had to burn the wine to ashes literally. If the cesium-137 was prevalent in higher levels, then the researchers’ instruments would’ve been able to measure it through the wine bottle. Also, the California Department of Public Health reported that they hadn’t yet received any health or safety reports related to the wine. A representative of the department stated that they weren’t even aware of the aforementioned study.

From Fukushima To American West Coast

A 2016 report revealed radiation traces from Fukushima’s nuclear disaster showing up in Oregon. However, when researchers took samples, they discovered that it wasn’t at a dangerous level to human health. Nevertheless, this doesn’t take away from the fact that specific effects have been showing up on certain parts of the west coast. This is despite the radiation being considered at a “safe” level. In fact, shortly after the Fukushima disaster, Canadian fish started bleeding from their mouths, eyeballs, and gills. At the time, the government simply waved it off as a passing disease. The disaster also went on to obliterate many native fish species, some of which have since become near extinct. Meanwhile, scientists in Western Canada are seeing year on year increases in the levels of radiation found in the Pacific Ocean. Their measuring instruments have found that radiation has increased by 300% since the Fukushima disaster.

Why Haven’t We Heard About This In The News?

You may not have heard anyone asking the question “is California wine radioactive?” because both the American and Canadian governments have strictly forbidden anyone from even talking about Fukushima, let alone openly reporting about it in public. This is apparently to avoid “mass panic.” As Japanese officials confessed in 2016, the full effects aren’t reported due to a concerted effort to hide the facts from the public.

The Fukushima Disaster

The disaster happened after several of the Fukushima nuclear power plants melted down following a massive tsunami wave. An untold amount of radioactive waste still pollutes the Fukushima region to this day. The most affected victims are the sailors located close to the plant. While the radioactive waste levels in Californian wine are nowhere near the levels in Fukushima, there’s still a chance that it could do irreparable damage in the future. However, there’s just no way to know as of yet what the future effects will be. The world was largely unprepared for the Fukushima event.

This morning, however, when I tried to check the weather I found that my app was malfunctioning.
