Artificial Intelligence WARNING: AI ‘capable predicting and manipulating YOUR future’

Artificial Intelligence is capable of predicting your future thoughts without knowing anything about you, scientists have warned.

The process uses social media accounts of known associates to accurately build a profile on an individual. A new study looked at more than 30 million posts from around 13,000 social media users to create a prediction on future activity. The results showed that, using as little as nine friends of one user, accurate predictions could be generated.

The findings have troubling implications for online privacy – namely that, in theory, not even leaving Facebook or Twitter would make someone exempt.

Published in online journal, Nature Human Behaviour, lead scientist James Bagrow revealed how they conducted the study.

He wrote: “The ability of a machine learning methods to accurately profile individuals from their online traces [followers] is reflected in the predictability of their written text.

“Indeed, with a language model trained to predict the words a user will post online, one can construct a profile of the user by evaluating the likelihoods of various words to be posted, such as terms related to politics.

State of emergency declared in US measles outbreak

The article State of emergency declared in US measles outbreak is republished from http://totalsurvival.net

A state of emergency was declared on Friday in the western US state of Washington following a measles outbreak that has affected more than two dozen people, the majority of them children.

The disease was declared eliminated in the US in 2000 but has since made a comeback that is tied to imported cases and the rise of the anti-vaccine movement.

“Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease that can be fatal in small children,” Washington Governor Jay Inslee said in a statement. “The existence of more than 26 confirmed cases in the state of Washington creates an extreme public health risk that may quickly spread to other counties.”

WATCH: People in Mexico Hurl Rocks at Border Patrol Agents After Illegal Crossing

The post WATCH: People in Mexico Hurl Rocks at Border Patrol Agents After Illegal Crossing was originally seen on http://totalsurvival.net

ROMA, Texas – A group of individuals in Mexico hurled rocks and insults at U.S. Border Patrol Agents as they apprehended migrants after an illegal crossing.

The incident took place on the banks of the Rio Grande, not far from downtown Roma. The rock-throwing and insults were captured in a live video feed taken from the Mexican side by El Tejano.

The video captured the moment when a U.S. Border Patrol boat pulls up to the banks on the northern side to help a group of agents who were trying to arrest a man apparently resisting capture. The man was part of a group of at least four who had just crossed into Roma. In the background, voices can be heard yelling that the agents were being rough with the man. Moments later, various individuals on the Mexican side can be seen running to the edge of the river where they scream several insults and throw rocks, but fall short of their targets.

Media Pundits Declare That The American Middle Class Is Dead

Media Pundits Declare That The American Middle Class Is Dead Read more on: http://totalsurvival.net

By and large, many commentators suggest that the American middle class is dead because job security is dead.

Some observers, including Atlantic writer Caitlin Zaloom, now believe that the American middle class is dead.

Zaloom, in fact, asserts that the work and jobs that define the middle class no longer exist. For instance, Zaloom thinks white-collar professionals in secure corporate or government jobs compose a middle class.

Furthermore, she defines a middle-class job as a white-collar position that pays enough to support a family on one salary. Zaloom maintains that the American middle class is dead because such jobs no longer exist.

The American Middle Class Is Dead: Nurses Drive Uber To Pay The Bills

To illustrate, Uber is currently recruiting teachers and nurses to drive in the San Francisco Bay Area. Uber recruits teachers and nurses because those professionals cannot make enough money at their jobs to pay their rent or mortgage in the Bay Area.

Moreover, the price of the average house in the Bay Area was $935,000 in August 2018, Curbed estimates. Amazingly, that price is down from June 2018 when the average Bay Home was selling for $1.62 million.

In addition, the average apartment in San Francisco is renting for $3,294 a month, Rent Jungle calculates. As a result, middle-class families cannot afford to live in the Bay Area.

The American Middle Class Is Dead, Is Family Life Next?

In particular, Zaloom believes that middle-class jobs and middle-class families go hand-in-hand. However, she thinks those jobs and the families they support no longer exist.

“Stability on the job gave shape to the idealized nuclear family, one that white-collar men and women could imagine anchoring their children’s adulthoods, too,” Zaloom writes.

By and large, the American middle class is dead because job security is dead. For example, 94% of the job growth between 2005 and 2015 consisted of part-time, temporary, or contract work.

The American Middle Class Is Dead Because Middle-Class Jobs Are Disappearing

Particularly, Zaloom points to the disappearance of middle-class jobs and incomes to support her thesis that the middle class is dead.

Specifically, the percentage of American adults living in households which earn a middle-class income fell from 61% in 1971 to 50% in 2015, Pew Social Trends states. Meanwhile, the percentage of lower-class or poor Americans grew from 16% in 1971 to 20% in 2015.

On the other hand, the middle class could also be shrinking because more people are joining the upper class. Pew calculates that 14% of Americans were in the upper class in 1971 while 21% of Americans were in the upper class in 2015.

Notwithstanding, economists Richard V. Reeves and Katherine Guyot still classify 60% of American households as middle-class. Reeves and Guyot have arrived at this conclusion by defining the middle class as any household making between $37,000 and $147,000 a year.

The American Middle Class Is Dead Because People Make Less Than Their Parents

Additionally, the American middle class is dead because half of Americans will make less money than their parents. Zaloom also thinks the belief that children will be richer than their parents is key to the middle-class identity.

Notably, just 50% of Americans born after 1984 will earn more than their parents, Reeves and Guyot assert. In contrast, over 90% of Americans born in 1940 have earned more than their parents.

Ultimately, the American middle class is dead because so many younger Americans are leaving it in one way or another.

The American Middle Class Is Dead But What Will Replace It?

In the final analysis, Zaloom raises an important question: if the American middle class is dead what will replace it?

“The middle class is tricky to define today because the secure jobs and stable home lives that supplied its historical definition are now gone for most Americans,” Zaloom writes.

Because of this, we must prepare for life in a country where the American middle class may lose prominence. This new version of America could end up being a very different place than what any of us are accustomed to.

Got Beardruff? | Causes And Treatment For Beard Dandruff

The following blog post Got Beardruff? | Causes And Treatment For Beard Dandruff is republished from http://www.totalsurvival.net/

If you think you'll never get beard dandruff, then you're in for a surprise. It happens to the best of us, after all. Those specks in your beard? They may not be crumbs, dude. Dandruff isn’t always confined to the scalp. It’s a gross fact of life, but anywhere your body sprouts hair is a honey trap for the flaking skin underneath. And the darker your beard, the more unsightly the problem. It can take some experimenting to find the cause, which leads to the best treatment. But once you do, your “crumb catcher” can go back to its day job.

How to Get Rid of Beard Dandruff

The Bad Guys

“Why you flakin’ on me, bro?” Just like scalp dandruff, “beardruff” can spring from a few different causes. The most common culprits are:

  • Dry skin. Dry, irritated skin is, well, irritating no matter what. But once the resulting flakes start to festoon your luscious beard, they’re all the more noticeable. To find out if it’s simple dehydration that’s causing your beardruff, do a little detective work. Part those facial locks and peer underneath. If the skin doesn’t seem red or rashy, the root cause is probably regular, garden-variety dry skin.
  • Neglect. Ironically, the opposite problem—excessive oiliness—also leads to beard dandruff. Guys who don’t wash their beards often enough are letting oil and trapped skin cells build up in their facial hair. When that happens, the oils and cells break down into flakes.
  • “Hyper” skin. Everybody’s skin renews its cell supply every month or so, but you could be one of those people whose skin cells turn over at a faster rate. When that happens, the cells accumulate on top of your skin—and beard—rather than falling away unobtrusively.
  • A fungus among us. That’s right! Fungal infections are one of the top reasons scalp and beard dandruff happen. These tiny fungal microbes are actually supposed to be there, helping to break down natural oils. But if there’s more oil than usual, or your skin just reacts badly to the microbes, they multiply. The resulting fungal infection causes redness, itching, patchy redness—and, of course, the dreaded beardruff.

Brush It Off, Bro

Your first step toward getting rid of the problem is removing the buildup of dead skin cells. That means exfoliation. For guys, the best method for this is a soft-bristled beard brush.

Before you get into the shower, brush your beard thoroughly. What you’re doing is sloughing off the dead skin cells under your beard.

As a bonus, you’re also redistributing your beard’s natural oils. And that’s a good thing—whether your facial hair is too dry or too oily. Brushing it helps redistribute those natural oils more evenly.

The Biggest Lie New Preppers Are Told

The Biggest Lie New Preppers Are Told Follow Me on Pinterest

The Biggest Lie New Preppers Are Told Follow Me on Pinterest If you’ve been a prepper for a long time, you’re probably aware of the many prepper myths and lies that get spread around the Internet. For example, the idea that when a disaster strikes your city, you should bug out to the wilderness. In reality, that is an absolute last resort. Usually, you’ll be safer staying put.

But what do you think is the biggest lie that new preppers are told? That is the topic of this video by Survival Know How. He says the biggest lie is this: “You should be prepping for the end of the world.”

Want to save this post for later? Click Here to Pin It on Pinterest!

And he makes a really good point. Although being prepared for the end of the world would be great, it’s not realistic to start from square one with that goal in mind. It’s too intimidating, too frustrating, and unrealistic for most people who can’t afford a remote bug out location or a huge bomb shelter.

Instead, he suggests a very different approach. He tells new preppers to work on the following six goals in this order:

  1. Blackout bag for 24 hour power outages.
  2. Supplies for one week without power.
  3. Supplies for one month without power.
  4. Supplies for three months without power.
  5. Long-term self-reliance for over three months.
  6. Bug out bag.

By doing it this way, you’ll find your prepper journey much more manageable and much more satisfying. Watch the video below to hear his rationale behind these six goals.
