SHOT Show 2016 is beginning to come to a close, here in Las Vegas. Soon, my home town in Pennsylvania will be blanketed in white stuff by what is being touted “the big one.” Though, if history has been any indicator about what the weather predictors on TV call “the big one,” I’m sure it will fizzle out into zero accumulation.

I highly doubt you’re here to read about the weather in PA, though. Instead, let’s talk about a firearm with a long overdue arrival. Namely, the HMG STG 44.

As I spoke about before I left for sunny Las Vegas, The Sturmgewehr is an icon from WWII and is the weapon that inspired Kalashnikov to make the world-renowned AK-47.

This modern-day version of an iconic rifle will be made available later on this year, and is set to be released in a few different models. There will be a rifle, a pistol and an SBR that will be chambered in four different calibers to include, 7.62X39, 5.56X45, .300BLK and the original Kurz 7.92X33. Ya know, for those of us who can afford to be pure at heart.

This famed rifle clearly looks a lot like the original, but will have some differences on the inside. It does draw on modern and old technologies to get the final product.

Over all, this is something that’s got a lot of gun enthusiasts excited, and I know I can’t wait to get my hands on one.

It is set to be released later on this year, and will retail starting at $1,800. This beauty is heavy, weighing in at over 10 pounds, and is sure to be a blast to shoot at the range.
