The Toda people are a small tribe that lives on the hill country of Southern India. They live in tiny homes, called munds or Toda huts, which are characterized by an oval shape and a size that is 10 feet (3 m) high, 18 feet (5.5 m) long and 9 feet (2.7 m) wide. The base material for these homes is bamboo and rattan and each home is considered to be complete when it has a wall of loose stones. The entrance and the back of the hut have a specific design and are made of other types of stones, such as granite. The Toda have their very own art and the most typical to the region is rock painting that can also be observed on their home’s entrances.
