Back To Eden bakery in Portland has been targeted by social justice activists.

Two employees were reportedly fired for refusing to serve a black woman who walked in after closing time. Back to Eden Bakery in Portland, Oregon, apparently fired the two after Lillian Green accused them of racism.

Green, supposedly walked into the bakery at 9:06 p.m. on May 10, and was refused service. Back to Eden closes at 9:00 p.m. but Green could see a few customers that were still in the shop. As a result, Green thought she was being discriminated against.

To make matters worse, Portland’s fire code prevents employees from locking the door as a long as customers are in the building. Consequently, some customers who were reportedly white were present when Green walked in.

Choosing to not Serve My Community

“Two white women are in front of me and [the bakery] said like, ‘Oh, we’re sorry, we’re only serving them,’” Green supposedly said in a Facebook video rant.

“If you choose to not serve this black woman in your establishment,” Green allegedly grumbled in a second video, “then you’re choosing to not serve my community.”

Among other things, Green demanded that an assistant manager and another employee be fired immediately. Both workers were terminated within a few hours.

Bakery accused of White Supremacy in Business”

Despite the swift termination, Back to Eden quickly faced a backlash from social justice activists, Blogger Andy Ngo reported at Quillete.

Confusingly, Back to Eden faced charges of “white supremacy in business.” Incredibly, some activists even demanded that the bakery hire Green.

Green is reportedly a Ph.D. candidate who works for the Oregon Department of Education. Obviously, Green did not need the bakery job, but the assistant manager Lisa, a 26-year-old woman from rural Idaho, did.

“Back to Eden Bakery is 100% committed to being a welcoming and supportive environment for all customers who share our values of inclusivity and dismantling the white supremacist hetero-patriarchy,” Back to Eden co-owner John Blomgren wrote in a letter of apology. Activist Ngo called Blomgren’s letter self-degrading and groveling.

Equity Activist Attacks Bakery

As a result of Green’s complaints, Back to Eden attracted the attention “an equity consultant” named Cameron Whitten. Whitten, who is said to be African American, is apparently trying to make a business of forcing businesses to pay him reparations for racism.

“Cameron Whitten is a failed 2012 Portland mayoral candidate who has since made a name for himself as a local social justice star,” Ngo wrote. “His publicity-seeking stunts—going on a hunger strike outside city hall or demanding reparations from whites—have earned him glowing praise in media profiles.”

Back to Eden drew Whitten’s wrath because it hired a white man as a public relations consultant. Among other things, Whitten called Blomgren “a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

Social Justice Activists vs. Hipsters

Back to Eden is apparently a hipster establishment that sells vegan and gluten-free products. The Bakery’s owners are also proudly leftwing – there is reportedly a Black Lives Matter sign in the window.

Disturbingly, none of that stopped social justice activists from targeting the business. Another key point is that Portland is one of the “whitest” cities in America. Portland’s black population fell from 30% in 2000 to 17% in 2014, The Stranger’s Slog blog pointed out.

White guilt and “race grifting” apparently increases as the number of African Americans in the neighborhood falls.
