So you already have a harness and you put it to your chicken, but then she freaked out. No choice you have to take it off! Don’t worry it’s not the end of it. Use a chicken saddle and put it on at night right before bedtime. She may freak out a little but the saddle is safe to leave it on for few days and it will help her getting used to a feeling of wearing something on her back and a strapped across her front.
Plus if your hen is having a bald spot at her back, the saddle is the perfect fix. Watch the video below on how to put on the chicken saddle by PetPrepper.

After a couple of days, your chicken should be used to wearing something, so you can now take off the saddle and put on the harness. She shouldn’t be agitated by the harness now. However, if you notice that she is still bothered with the harness a few more days with a saddle on should fix that. Watch the video below on testing out the new chicken harness by Stephanie Harris.

You can now start bringing your favorite feather friend outdoors. Though chickens will never be like the dogs while walking on a leash but at least it will keep her by your side and safe.
