Make a Cobra Weave Paracord Bracelet with This Simple Tutorial
Here is a tutorial on how to make a paracord bracelet. We’ll go through the process of making a paracord bracelet step-by-step, starting with supplies.
Here are the materials you’ll need to make a paracord bracelet:
- Paracord (one color)
- 5/8 inch clip
- Sharp pair of scissors or a knife
- Lighter
Now, let’s get started on the tutorial. Check out the video below, and scroll down for our step-by-step instructions.
How to Make a Paracord Bracelet
Once you’ve chosen your paracord, measure it out according to your wrist size. They say about a foot per inch for the weave that we’re doing, so if your wrist is 7 inches you’re going to want to give it around 7 feet. (I do a foot or a foot and a half more than that, just to be safe.) Once you’ve measured out enough paracord, cut it off.
Now, take your lighter and burn both ends of the paracord you just cut. While you’re at it, burn the end of the remaining paracord too to save yourself time later on.
Now, grab your two ends. I like to make sure the ends are relatively flat, as they’re just easier to work with that way. (You can flatten them out with your fingers.)
Now take one of your clip and feed both ends of the paracord through the bottom of the clip.
Pull the cord through until it forms the loop, then pull the rest of the paracord back through the loop (making sure to tighten it.)
Now, get the two ends of the cord and feed it through the other end of the clip, pulling the excess through.
Once you have it looking like the picture below, double check the sizing of your wrist. You want it to be snug but not too tight, leaving some room to work with.
Now you will begin your weave. If you are a beginner, in order to keep yourself organized, take the middle string coming down and separate the two ends going off to the side, like so.
Now, starting with the strand on the left, cross it over.
Now take the strand on the right and go over the one that you just previously crossed…
And take that end and feed it through the loop on the left.
You should end up with this:
Then holding the clip in place so you don’t lose your measurement, pull the two ends, making sure to keep the first one tight. This is your first weave.
Now repeat the process from the other side. Take the strand on the right and cross it over, then cross the left strand over, around the back and through the loop. Pull it tight again.
NOTE: Each time you finish a weave, start again with the opposite side. Remember that the tighter you make each weave, the cleaner the bracelet will be in the end.
After a few more rounds of this, you can start to see the cobra weave pattern emerging.
Keep making your weave, starting with opposite sides each time, until you reach the end. Make sure to pull each weave as tightly as possible.
Now you have your bracelet.
Now to take care of the excess. Cut each end close to the bracelet.
Then using your lighter, singe both ends.
Make sure that you don’t touch your skin to the paracord right after you’ve pulled the lighter away, because it is very hot. But after a few seconds you can push it down and make it smooth, getting it flush to the rest of the bracelet.
And there you go; that is your finished paracord bracelet with a cobra weave. And if you’ve measured correctly, it should fit nicely.
